  22.        It was a cold day in October or November, so I decided to make
  23.        something with Bob. Bob is my computer... But this day was
  24.        special, because I realized that I was really fed up to lose
  25.        time to type a full path and the good name (after some dir/w)
  26.        to retrieve finally the program that I wanted to use...

  28.        So I jumped in TP 6... And start this program...

  35.                                 Why, What ?

  38.        When you want to have an easy acces to a program, the DOS proposes
  39.        you to create a PATH line in your AUTOEXEC.BAT... You rapidly
  40.        realize that this line becomes longer and longer... And you always
  41.        need to remember the name of the good EXE program...

  45.        It 's why I created AUTOMENU. In fact, you can find others programs
  46.        which offer more possibilities than mine. But I really want to have
  47.        one in graphic mode... Maybe I was boring to ear some people saying
  48.        "Oh, you search the name ! This will not happend with a Macintosh !"

  50.        To resume, AUTOMENU is an opening menu Creator...!
  51.        Hum... Creator...!?!
  52.        You will need to help it a little bit...

  59.                             How does it work ?

  62.        This program is in fact composed of 2 programs :
  63.  
  64.             - Initor which creates the menu... (A file named MENU.ACC)
  65.             - Automenu which 'executes' this menu...

  67.        First, you need to set up your menu. For this use the program
  68.        INITOR. This program will scan your disk, get the tree, and
  69.        propose you to select the programs that you want to put in your
  70.        menu...

  72.        Type INITOR (Disk)
  73.             (Disk) indicates which disk will be scanned.
  74.             Examples : INITOR C or INITOR D
  75.        If the file MENU.ACC already exists on C:\, it will propose you
  76.        to 'overwrite' it or 'add or del events'...
  77.        After what, it will scan your disk. Then you will be able to
  78.        make a round in yours directories...

  80.        If you choose 'Search EXE', the program will give you the list
  81.        of the executables programs (EXE, COM and BAT) in the current
  82.        directory. The files .EXE will appear in Red, the files .COM
  83.        in Magenta and the files .BAT in Darkgrey.
  84.        Just select a file and give a name to the label which will
  85.        represent the program. I limited this name to 8 caracters for this
  86.        version.

  88.        When you are OK, go back until leaving the program.

  90.        INITOR writes always a file MENU.ACC in the root directory of C:,
  91.        and only here...!

  93.        And now.... You just need to type..... AUTOMENU...

  105.        Yes, I know... A good program has no problem...
  106.        But I never said that it 's a good program....!

  108.        Seriously, I know few problems...:

  110.        Generally : It 's possible that the programs never find your
  111.                    mouse...! This could happen with old drivers
  112.                    specially with old Logitech Drivers...
  113.                    This could happen if you use the driver which
  114.                    comes with Windows (I think only Win 3.0...).

  116.        With INITOR : It 's simply not perfect... For example, it can
  117.                      only display correctly 32 directories (you will
  118.                      see that it 's not a problem if you have a nice
  119.                      tree on your HD) and 54 executables programms !
  120.                      That 's could be a problem, not with the normals
  121.                      directories which only contain a main program
  122.                      but it 's a problem with the DOS directory and
  123.                      the WINDOWS directory (only if you have not make
  124.                      a lot of subdirectories...).
  125.                      Nethertheless you can select the COMMAND.COM to get
  126.                      a Dos-Shell (you could quit it easily with 'exit'!).

  128.        With AUTOMENU : It 's the more stupid program that I never write !
  129.                        It makes no test for the mouse, the MENU.ACC file
  130.                        and others things. I eliminated those tests to
  131.                        win momery place.
  132.                        It needs now 50400 Kb of memory to run... It 's not
  133.                        a problem with most of the programs (Windows, Games,
  134.                        and what you want...). But a friend saw that some
  135.                        big games had no more enough memory (WC for example).

  162.        Something else ! For this program, I used an Unit to program the
  163.        mouse in graphic mode... I wrote this unit for few mounths...
  164.        And you could found it in Simtel20 /turbopas, and all the mirrors
  165.        of Simtel20 (WuArchive for example...).
